Ruth Daniel
Ruth Daniel is a creative social music entrepreneur. Ruth was Founder and Director of Manchester based independent record label, Fat Northerner Records (2003 – 2010); global grassroots music event and community founder and Director of Un-Convention; and Director of new seaside ‘festival of festivals’, One of These Days. Ruth also manages Times Higher Award winning research project at The University of Manchester, ‘In Place of War’ that represents and researches a creative community in sites of armed conflict. Ruth partners with independent music makers, producers, creatives, governments, councils and anyone that believes in the power of independent music.
Ruth was short-listed for UK Young Music Entrepreneur 2008 and 2010; AIM Entrepreneur of the Year (2011) on the Courvoisier Future500 list and is a Woman To Watch 2010 (Cultural Leadership Programme). Ruth is a member the Board of asylum seeker and refugee group, The Beating Wing Orchestra and the Board for AIM – The Association of Independent Music. Ruth has spoken at events including by:Larm (Norway); This Is It (Helsinki); Resonancia (Colombia), c/o pop (Cologne), A2N (Berlin), Nokia Music Connects (India), Venezuela and Un-Convention around the world.
